Alright, so here are the rules to keep things under control.
General Rules: 1. No swearing. Okay, first of all, they aren't pleasant words. They don't make you sound smarter, they aren't better at conveying a message. The only exception of swearing is if your character does. Just don't make Kakashi just tell someone:
"What the fuck is your problem!?"
Yeah...don't do that.
2. Four (4) Characters Total. The limit is two canon and two custom. Please make a separate account for each. You must respect the rule of four characters. The only exception is that staff can have five characters and people who ask me and swear to stay active with all of them may be allowed to have an additional character.
3. No spamming. I hate clutter, and spam is clutter. You clutter me, I clobber you. Deal?
4. Be respectful. Be respectful unless you are supposed to hate someone. This just makes people feel unloved, which is not our goal here. Even if you are supposed to hate someone, you don't have to be sarcastic or insulting all of the time. Sometimes Naruto and Sasuke have gotten along. Regardless, be civil to people and avoid gratuitous insults.
5. Listen to staff. If a staff member tells you to not do something, do not repeat the error. Continued negligence of the advice will result in three stages of punishment. The first stage, after three warnings, it's one-week suspension. The second is a one-month suspension and the third is a permanent IP ban from the site. Try to sneak on as another IP address, and that will be blocked as well.
Role Playing Rules:
1. No automatic relationships with other characters. I have seen this, where you come up to someone in a forum, they have no idea who you are and all of a sudden you are hugging them and lamenting about old times. Bad, just bad. Avoid this, and if you want to have been friends with someone from before, you must bring it up with them in a PM. The only exceptions are relations among Naruto characters. However, you can post in the character relationship/plot board and avoid the hassle of meeting them through roleplay.
2. About Multi-Personing. You can be in three threads at the same time. Only three. If you are a mod or especially active you may be granted permission to be in more than three threads. If you leave a thread post at the bottom in red letters "Username has left the thread".
3. Absolutely no one-line posts. I can already hear people complaining about this one. There is a one-hundred (100) word minimum per post. If all you can do is respond to a question, you can still squeeze 100 words from it. I know, for I have done it. If you complain that you aren't good enough for that, then this site probably isn't for you. This is a multipara (multiple paragraph) rpg forum, and this rule is to keep things interesting. If you are a few words under, no big deal. If you don't want to go through and count the words, use the word counter at the bottom of every page here.
4. No 'godmoding.' This means that other people are other people. You are not. Do not, in your posts. dictate what any of them do, think or say. That is, unless you are reiterating what they did, thought or said in the previous post. The only exception is that when one is creating a character, in their sample post, one may control characters.
5. No leaving others behind in RP. For example, if you (A) and another person (B) are RPing, the sequence would go: A posts --> B posts --> A posts --> B posts...
Etcetera. Now, if A and B are joined by C the sequence changes to B posts -->C posts (entrance) --> A posts --> B posts...
Continuing like that. If A had posted just before C, then A would have gone first, so modify accordingly to make sure that everyone gets to post before you post again. No double posting and no leaving others behind, because that can cut them out of the RP entirely.
6. Fights Must Be Done Well. You aren't allowed to simply post that "He attacked" and have that work. You must go into great detail about how you attack, how your body moves and how you execute the attack. Also, there are no Auto-Hits. Your opponent decides if the attack you performed hits him/her. On that vein, you cannot block a wonderfully eloquent, greatly detailed attack with "I dodge." You must match at least one-half of the words used in the attack itself or else the block isn't valid and you will be notified.
7. Keep it "PG-13." We don't need elaborate sex scenes. Let us keep the younger population in consideration, okay? The only exception is if a staff member pm's you the password to the Mature Board.
8. No Scripting. Scripting is one of the most annoying ways for anyone to roleplay on the planet. If you are unsure as to what it is, here is an example:
Scripted (Incorrect): Jack: I have no idea what 'scripting' is. Jill: Well, it is pretty obvious, *snaps fingers* duh! Jack: Is it acting, like on *thinks hard* TV or something? Jill: No, dummy. *sighs and rolls eyes* It is the blatant disuse of conventions of writing, such as putting words within quotations or putting asterisks (*) around actions. Jack: Dang.
Paragraphs (Correct):
"I have no idea what 'scripting is," said Jack, looking over to his friend Jill. Jill looked back.
"Well, it is pretty obvious," she replied, snapping her fingers at Jack in an annoyed fashion.
Jack looked puzzled, "Is is acting, like on," here he stopped, thinking very hard, "TV or something like that?" he concluded dumbly and looking slightly pained as though his head hurt.
"No dummy," Jill sighed, rolling her eyes, "It is...."
You get the idea. Don't script. You will be warned if you are caught at it.
Character/Jutsu/Clan Creation Rules:
1. Use Much Detail in Applications! You won't be accepted without a whole lot of detail in your applications, whether for a jutsu, clan or character. Try to squeeze as much out as possible, because it is absolutely necessary for acceptance.
2. No using pictures in place of describing your character. Words are nice, they are your friends. If you cannot handle using them to describe your character, then you probably won't be much good at using them to post. You can use a picture and a description.but that's about it.
3. Add Weaknesses! When making a clan or a jutsu, make sure that it has a few drawbacks. If you make Super-Ultimate-Awesome-Unstoppable no Jutsu, which has super powered abilities, low chakra consumption and no flaws, it will be rejected. Add flaws! In this case, flaws are good.
4. No perfect characters. Nobody's perfect. Instead of masking that fact for an rpg, why not celebrate it? It actually makes things more fun, not less. If everyone is perfect, no one would have conflict with another and the fun of the site goes way downhill. If you make a perfect character (in the way of flawless) then you will be asked to revise it to add some flaws.
5. No trans-village shinobi You did not train at Konohagakure no Sato (Village Hidden in the Leaves) and then go and train at Kirigakure no Sato (Village Hidden in the Mist). It just doesn't happen. Maybe you fought some ninja from another country and maybe you picked up a jutsu or two from them, but you aren't proficient with most of them. Also, be rank-conscious. A genin isn't going to be ultra-powerful and have a million jutsus under his belt. The only exception for the village thing, is if you are a missing ninja.
6.In your application, you may use a character from another television show or anime/manga. Just make sure you don't take every little single detail about them and put it in your application. Be creative!
Advertisement/Affiliation Rules:
1. No Signup Necessary. It would be nice, and if you needed to edit your application it would be easier, but it isn't compulsory.
2. You Must Place Our Banner on Your Site. It is only nice. If you want to advertise or affiliate with us, you have to give back to us somehow. In Fullmetal Alchemist that's the #1 alchemaic rule: The Rule of Equivalent Exchange. Oh, don't think I don't check.
3. Only Advertise a Site Once. No posting your advertisement over and over again. Once is enough, really.
4. No B.U.M.P.ing, Ever. This site isn't specifically for advertising sites, so 'bumping' isn't allowed. Any advertisement that gets 'bumped' will also get 'deleted.'
5. Use the Form I Supplied! Be smart! It is easier for you and easier for me if you use the form that is already here. If you don't use it then you will be notified of the incorrect format and will have to change it.
6. OUR BANNER MUST BE ON YOUR SITE. Alright, the more 'on-the-ball' of you just realized this rule is on here twice. Apparently, it needs to be. No one seems to realize that you don't advertise without reciprocating the favor. It just isn't cool. I even gave the code all handy-like on the front page. Any advertisements without our banner will be deleted, end of story.
Okay, other than have fun, that is all for now! I reserve the right to edit or add to these rules, so check often.
---------------- Edit: New rule!
Abuse of staff power will earn you a direct ban.
No warnings no nothing,
